Biological description
Protein kinase C (PKC) activator which associates to C1 domain. Structurally analogous to diacylglycerol. Induces ERK1/2 activation.
Frequently used with ionomycin to stimulate intracellular cytokine production in T-cells.
Facilitates long term potentiation in hippocampal neurons via δ and ε PKC binding sites.
Also potentiates exocytosis and modulates vesicle fusion kinetics.
Displays tumor promoting properties.
